Essential oils offer such a wide range of healthcare benefits, from helping the immune system, liberating sinuses to pumping up one’s psychological state, they have been present and effective in many areas… Skin care is no exception.
Among the best essential oils for your skin, you’ll find:
- Tea Tree
Most of them offer equal benefits for aging skin as well as for skins suffering from acne or a too ‘oily’ feel. If you want to use them in a more targeted way we suggest that you look into each one for their benefits and counter indications.
Once you’ve chosen your scent, here are three ways you can use essential oils to improve your skin quality:
Maybe the safest and yet most effective way to use an essential oil is via your aroma diffuser or simply by putting the oil directly in hot water and leave your face above the vapour. This is a soft method to get the essential oil evenly on your face and allow it to permeate your open pores while not being as aggressive as directly putting it on bare skin.
AS A CLEANSER:
A simple way for regular use is to add a few drops to your daily cleanser. If mixed abundantly, the skin will be able to take in the potency of the essential oil while benefiting from the effect of that particular blend. It is worth point out that, as mentioned in an earlier post safe use of essential oils, you’re always better off putting a little less than too much when it comes to it… We think we’d all prefer a lesser effect than a rash or allergic reaction, no?
AS A SERUM:
You can add essential oils to other oils (common examples would be jojoba oil or coconut oil). A lot of people shy away from oil thinking it will make the texture look even more ‘oily’ but some of them are actually considered ‘dry oils’ and will feed your skin, clean its pore, provide nutrient and have a brightening effect without at all making the skin look anymore oily; quite the contrary actually.
As always, when it comes to essential oil, use with caution but we, at Pilgrim Collection, actually use essential oils in our skin care products and have found that, beside the obvious benefits of a delicious perfume, the skin benefits from the different oils and the different uses.
